Abstract
Undoubtedly, religion, as an important cultural and psychological component, plays a fundamental role in shaping organizational behaviors and performance. In recent years, researchers have paid increasing attention to the impact of religion on various dimensions of job and organizational performance, and efforts have been made to better understand this relationship. However, many of the precise mechanisms of the effect of religion and the role of mediating and moderating variables in this process are still not fully understood. In this regard, the present study aimed to answer the question "How does religion affect organizational performance?" This systematic review attempts to advance the understanding of this complex phenomenon by drawing a comprehensive framework of the relationships between religion, organizational performance, and intervening factors, and to provide a basis for formulating effective management policies. To this end, Scopus, Web of Science, Science Direct, and Medline databases were systematically searched, and 11 studies that met the inclusion criteria were identified and analyzed. The findings showed that religion can have a positive impact on organizational performance by reinforcing moral values, increasing employee commitment and motivation, and strengthening solidarity and cooperation in the workplace. These effects are realized mainly through the moral values and behavioral principles emphasized by different religions. The results also indicate that the relationship between religion and organizational performance is multidimensional and complex and is influenced by factors such as individual characteristics, organizational contexts, and management practices. These findings emphasize the importance of paying attention to contextual factors in human resource management policies.
