چکیده
مورمونیسم فرقه‌ای مسیحی است که در قرن نوزدهم در امریکا پا به عرصة ظهور گذاشت. رشد چشم‌گیر آن در امریکا و اروپا و انتظار جهانی شدن آن از منظر برخی جامعه‌شناسان شناخت آن را ضروری می‌سازد. لذا این مقاله به معرفی و توصیف ویژگی‌های آن فرقه همت می‌گمارد و به شیوه‌ای تاریخی به بیان زمینة ظهور، تولد و مرگ بنیان‌گذار، پیام مؤسس، فراز و نشیب، علل گسترش، کتب مقدس و آموزه‌های آن می‌پردازد.
مقالة حاضر وجوه تشابه و تمایز مورمونیسم با جریان اصلی مسیحیت را بررسی خواهد کرد و سازگاری آن را با فرهنگ امریکایی تا حد کنار گذاشته شدن برخی آموزه‌ها به تصویر می‌کشد. هم‌چنین، نشان می‌دهد این فرقه چگونه با برجسته‌کردن امریکایی‌های اسرائیلی‌تبار به دنبال ایجاد اورشلیم جدید در سرزمین مقدس امریکا، با هدف آماده‌سازی جهان برای بازگشت مسیح بوده است.

Mormonism is one of the cults of Christianity that was established in America in the nineteenth century. It is important to recognize sect of Mormonism, because it has significant growth in America and Europe and also some sociologists expect it to bo globalized. This article describs Mormonism and explains the historic context of rise, birth and death of the founder, message of the founder, ups and downs, causes of extend, the Scriptures and doctrines.
This paper tries to find the similarities and differences of Mormonism in respect to mainstream Christianity. We want to explain its maximum compatibility with American culture and adjustment of some of its doctrins, expressing how this cult seeks the new Jerusalem in holy land of America trise to base current Americans originality on an Israeli-Hebraic descent and it’s effort to prepare world for return of Christ.
